June 23 (Bloomberg) -- Matt Giteau recovered from a virus to be included in Australia's starting lineup for Saturday's rugby Test against world champion England in Brisbane. Mark Gerrard was named in the squad for the first time.
Inside center Giteau pulled out of last week's 34-13 win over Scotland before kickoff. Coach Eddie Jones said after the match his withdrawal affected the rhythm of Australia's backline and its ability to clear from defense with Giteau's kicking game.
Australia is seeking to end a run of five straight losses to England, including a 20-17 defeat in November's World Cup final. England has lost four of its seven matches since that victory in Sydney and was beaten 2-0 by New Zealand in their series.
``They are the world champions, the No. 1 team in the world,'' Jones said. `They are an experienced, physical side and I know they will lift for Saturday's Test.''
Morgan Turinui, a late replacement for Giteau against Scotland, was dropped to make room for Gerrard. The 21-year-old Gerrard, the joint top try-scorer in the 2004 Super 12, missed the two Tests against the Scots because of a thigh injury.
Only Mat Rogers, Elton Flatley and George Smith are missing from the Australian team that started the World Cup final. While Rogers and Flatley are injured, Smith was included on the replacements' bench.
England coach Clive Woodward, who is without suspended lock Danny Grewcock and injured center Stuart Abbott following the second Test loss to New Zealand, will name his team tomorrow.
AUSTRALIA: Joe Roff, Wendell Sailor, Stirling Mortlock, Matt Giteau, Lote Tuqiri, Stephen Larkham, George Gregan (capt), David Lyons, Phil Waugh, Radike Samo, Nathan Sharpe, Justin Harrison, Bill Young, Brendan Cannon, Alastair Baxter.
Replacements: Matt Dunning, Jeremy Paul, Daniel Vickerman, George Smith, Clyde Rathbone, Mark Gerrard, Chris Latham.
